Author Profile

Andrea Rovatti works in Milan where he is involved in photography, communication design and art installations.

He began working very young as an assistant in a fashion photography studio, then the meeting with Enzo Mari and the attraction for graphic design: since then photography and graphics constantly coexist in his work.

As she developed her creative experience, she approached art, which increasingly permeates her work, with research developed on the theme of the ambiguity of perception.

Indeed, he works on a representation that combines reality and the imaginary. He often works with sequential, repeated images, creating the coexistence of figurative and abstract in an alternating play of visual perception.

In 2022 he received the Academic Title of Merit from the Academy of Fine Arts of Perugia, an institution of Higher Artistic Education founded in 1573.

He has been president of ADI_ Association for Industrial Design, Lombardy Delegation.
He has been a member of the National Board of Directors of AIAP (Italian Association for Visual Communication).

He is a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Design of the Politecnico di Milano.

Lecturer for 12 years in the Visual Communication course in the Communication Design degree program at the Politecnico di Milano. Taught photography at the Albe Steiner School in Milan.

On the occasion of the exhibition at the Palazzo Reale in Milan, “Magritte, the Mystery of Nature,” he created, in the courtyard of the Palace, the installation "Di luce in luce", with a development of 12 meters.

His works have found space in exhibition venues such as the United Nations Palace in New York, the Design Center in Mumbai, EXPO in Milan, the Centre de Design in Montreal, Palazzo Regione Lombardia, Citè des Sciences et de l'Industrie (La Villette) in Paris, Triennale di Milano, RAW Rome, Biennale Arte Florence, Capri, Grand Palais in Paris, and Palazzo Reale in Milan.

Curator of the book “Confini del Design” presented at Palazzo Reale in Milan, under the Patronage of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Milan, and of the book “Il futuro non è più quello di una volta” presented in ADI Design Museum.
