“A city is impossible to 'see'. A city is a complex mass of infinite individual elements. I have chosen to capture a city's essence through repeating images of large spaces or details, so as to reveal
a visual rhythm of mass, of colour and the formality of association.
It is an almost obsessive scrutiny, such as that used in television or on the huge screens in shopping centres, where the same repeated image becomes surreal.”
